A WETT inspection is an evaluation of wood-burning appliances—such as fireplaces, wood stoves, and chimneys—conducted by a certified WETT (Wood Energy Technology Transfer) professional. The goal is to assess whether the system appears to be properly installed and in good working order, based on visible conditions.
WETT inspections are not code compliance inspections, but they help identify potential safety concerns, installation issues, or signs of poor maintenance. Many insurance companies request a WETT inspection before providing coverage for homes with wood-burning systems.
If you're buying or selling a home, or adding a wood-burning appliance, a WETT inspection can provide valuable insight and documentation.
