It may be performed by someone who has completed Wood Energy Technology Training through WETT Inc., and who is trained to assess these systems using standards based on the CSA B365 Installation Code for Solid-Fuel-Burning Appliances and Equipment.

Q: What does the WETT report include?

A WETT report includes a detailed evaluation of your wood-burning appliance (stove, fireplace, or insert). It confirms that the appliance appears to be properly installed and safe to use, based on visual inspection standards — not a full code compliance review. The report typically covers: Appliance type and make/model (if identifiable); Clearances to combustible materials; Venting and chimney components; Installation details and condition observations; Any concerns that could affect safety or insurance approval.

Q: How long does a WETT inspection take?

We work with experience, the onsite inspection typically takes about 45–60 minutes. Reports are delivered digitally so insurers and agents can use them right away.

Q: Do I really need a WETT inspection?

Yes — most insurance companies require a WETT report before they’ll insure homes with wood-burning appliances. It’s also common in real estate transactions.

Q: What do I need to prepare for the WETT Inspection?

Before we arrive, please: Ensure clear access to the appliance, chimney, and any attic/roof areas if needed. Remove personal belongings or combustibles from around the stove or fireplace. Gather any manuals, previous reports, or installation documents if available. We'll take care of the rest!

Q: Will you send the report directly to my insurer?

We send the completed report to you directly as a digital PDF. You can then easily forward it to your insurance provider, Realtor, or anyone else who needs it.

Q: How do I get my copy?

Your WETT report will be emailed to you as a PDF within 24 hours after the inspection. It's easy to download, save, and forward to anyone who needs it.
