Does a WETT Certificate Expire?

Technically, there is no such thing as a “WETT certificate.” What you receive is a WETT inspection report, not a certification or permit.

WETT inspection reports do not have an official expiry date, but insurance companies or real estate professionals may request an updated report if:

• The report is several years old

• There have been modifications to the appliance or chimney

• The property is being sold or reinsured

  
  

While the report itself doesn’t expire, its relevance depends on the situation and the preferences of whoever is requesting it.
